The 16-year-old British rider was confirmed for a second year with the Japanese manufacturer's works squad as the 2007 entry list was unveiled.

There had been speculation that the teenager would be moved to one of Honda's satellite operations instead next year, with a place in an all-British line-up on possibility.

But his confirmation alongside German Stefan Bradl and Spaniard Esteve Rabat, who move over from Red Bull KTM and BQR Honda teams, has laid to rest fears that the 2006 rookie of the year would lose his plum ride.

Smith is one of only a handful of riders who keep their rides from 2006 as the championship undergoes a major personnel changearound.

Honda

Amongst the Honda squads, the FFM team have two new riders with Frenchman Jules Cluzel stepping down from 250s and Alexis Masbou joining after a half-season on a Magaluti.

Arie Molenaar Racing retains Dutchman Joey Litjens and hands Brit Danny Webb a full-time ride after a one-off wild-card appearance last year, while the Humangest squad retain Stefano Musco but bring in Mike di Meglio from FFM.

Aprilia

World champion Alvaro Bautista has moved to 250s and taken sponsor MVA Master with him. New backer Bancaja will adorn the fairings of Sergio Gadea, Hector Faubel. Gabor Talmasci arrives from Humangest Honda while one more could join before the start of the season.

One of Aspar's 2006 riders, Mattia Pasini, has jumped ship to the Toshiba team, where he will be partnered by former SSM racer Joan Olive.

Multimedia Racing keep Dominique Aegerter and Raffaele de Rosa, while Simone Grotzkyi joins from Campetella, while I.S.P.A have signed Simone Corsi from the now defunct works Gilera squad and Wurth BQR will run rookie Hugo van den Berg as the team switch over from Hondas.

Andrea Iannone and Pol Espargaro stick with WTR Blauer and Campetella, while Caffe Latte - the only Honda team to win a race in 2006 - stick with Sandro Cortese and hunt for a replacement for 250-bound Thomas Luhti.

KTM

The works squad will again be backed by Red Bull and keep academy graduate Randy Krummenacher after he impressed in a handful of wildcard rides this year. Tomoyoshi Koyama joins after enhancing his reputation on an Ajo Magaluti, and rookie Steve Bonsey will also race after Julian Simon defected to Honda's 250 squad.

Derbi

Seedorf Racing will run the works bikes in 2007 with Nicolas Terol and Lukas Pesek both moving with the factory backing.

Ajo, who ran the works Magalutis this season, have switched manufacturers and have signed rookie Robert Muresan and KTM-refugee Michael Ranseder.
