Jeremy McWilliams and Andrew Pitt will miss nine days of crucial testing before the start of the 2007 MotoGP world championship.
The Ilmor duo will skip two tests at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia and also one three-day session at Phillip Island in Australia in January and February, 2007.
Ilmor engineers are working flat-out to make improvements to the new X3 V4 and may do a European test.
But the plan is for the Northamptonshire-based squad to go head to head with its rivals at the IRTA test in Qatar on February 13.
They will also do the IRTA test in Jerez on February 23, 2007 before the season starts on March 10, 2007 back in Qatar.
A spokesman said: “The flyaway tests would be valuable for us to go to but it is difficult for us to be so far away from our base when we might need to make improvements.
