As the opening round of the Championship approaches, Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra are getting ready for the fray. The latest Pirelli development test, which takes place in Phillip Island between 13th and 15th January, plays an important role in the team’s preparation. Once again, the test will be attended by one development team from each of the five manufacturers involved in World Superbike Championship and will help teams work towards the best possible bike set-up for the new season ahead.
After successful and informative tests in Spain and Qatar, Team Alstare riders Max Biaggi and Yukio Kagayama are looking forward to three days intensive work with the team. Team Alstare mechanics have been working hard on the build-up to this test and they and the riders are eager to continue development of the new Suzuki GSX-R 1000 K7 at the Australian racetrack.
Last month in Qatar, Max Biaggi brought 2007 to a close with a highly encouraging second fastest time - just behind reigning champion Troy Bayliss - while team-mate Yukio Kagayama finished ninth quickest after carrying out a lot of development work on his bike. The third and final Pirelli development test of the off-season is extremely important. Some of the problems encountered during the Doha and Valencia tests need to be resolved, while new settings need to be tested in order for the 2007 bike to be ready for the new season, starting in Doha, Qatar, on 24th February.
