Kevin Curtain has placed his SSP Yamaha on pole position for the opening round of the World Supersport Championship at the Losail circuit in Qatar.
Last year's Supersport championship went to the wire with the title being decided at the final round at Magny-Cours, unfortunately for Curtain he finished the championship in second place to Sesbastien Charpentier. Sealing pole is a superb start to Curtain's 2007 season, his main title rival Sebastien Charpentier on the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda will line up along side him in second position.
Provisional pole sitter, Katsuaki Fuijiwara maintained a front row start in third place with Kenan Sofuoglu in fourth. The GIL Motorsport Kawasaki pairing for Fabien Foret and Pere Riba head up the second row of the grid in fifth and sixth places respectively.
The second SSP Yamaha with Broc Parkes on board qualified in seventh and lining up next to him is Gianluca Nannelli on the SC Carrachi Ducati.
Rounding out the top ten are French man Yoann Tiberio and Italian Massion Roccoli. British rider Craig Jones finished in twenty second place.

I see that the GSXR600 still isn’t performing:( , with Barry Veneman down in 11th place and 1.9 seconds from pole! It is a pity that the Alstare team do not run a Supersport team anymore as I am sure they would be higher up. The Hogee team are a privateer team and as far as I am aware do not get any factory support.
