Fabien Foret has secured pole position for round two of the World Supersport Championship for his Gil Kawasaki team at Phillip Island.
The French rider put the new ZX-6RR on pole with a blisteringly fast lap of 1min 35.166secs, which was enough to eclipse Kevin Curtain and his SSP Yamaha.
Curtain crashed during the last five minutes of the session and was unable to take back the pole position that he looked certain to gain.
Completing the front row of the grid were the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda pairing of Sebastien Charpentier and Kenan Sofuoglu.
The second row of the grid is headed up by Gianluca Nannelli on the Carrachi Ducati, he is lining up beside Broc Parkes, Barry Veneman and Katsuaki Fujiwara.
The last two places in the top ten belong to another French rider, this time Yoann Tiberio in ninth and Endurance rider, David Checa in tenth. Pere Riba on the second Kawasaki qualified in eleventh just missing the top ten and Britain's Craig Jones finished in eighteenth.
