HM Plant Honda's Johnny Rea has once again topped the time sheets, this time at Thruxton during free practice for round two of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship.
He beat double Brands race winner, Gregorio Lavilla by 0.43secs relegating the Airwaves Ducati rider to second place. Reigning British Superbike Champion, Ryuichi Kiyonari put his black HM Plant Honda into third place just ahead of Superbike rookie Leon Camier.
Camier and his bike Animal Honda team had a superb start to their season at Brands Hatch with a front row start and two podiums, he is hoping to continue that form at Thruxton.
Virgin Media Optoma Loans Yamaha's Tommy Hill was running in fifth place and is trying to put his woes from Brands Hatch behind him. The second of the airwaves Ducati riders, Leon Haslam was sixth just ahead of Hydrex Honda's Karl Harris. Harris' team have been working hard and gradually moving up the time sheets.
Shane Byrne on the Stobart Honda was eighth and his young team-mate Tom Sykes tenth with the blue Rizla Suzuki of Cal Cructhlow splitting them for ninth place.
