Dovizioso grabs Istanbul Pole
Andrea Dovizioso became the first man to topple Jorge Lorenzo in 2007 by grabbing pole position for the 250cc Turkish Grand Prix.
The Italian who was runner-up to Lorenzo in the world championship last year, threw the gauntlet down to the Spaniard with five minutes of the session remaining as he went top with a time of 1:57.473 on his Scot Honda.
Try as he might, Lorenzo could not better the time and was forced to settle for second on his Fortuna Aprilia, ending up with a time less than three hundredths of a second slower.
Overnight pole-sitter Alvaro Bautista dropped to third on the grid on his Aspar Aprilia
