Out-of-work MotoGP rider Andrew Pitt has been rewarded with a second outing for the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda team at this weekend's Assen round of the World Supersport championship.
The former WSBK race winner and WSS champion was called up by Honda's top team to replace injured reigning champion Sebastien Charpentier at Valencia last time out.
Pitt went on to finish an excellent second behind team-mate Kenan Sofuoglu and - although Charpentier will return this weekend - the Dutch team will run a third CBR600RR for Pitt, at their home race, as a reward for his efforts.
"For Assen, we have decided to bring in a wingman to support our two top gun riders," announced team manager Ronald ten Kate. "Andrew impressed us a lot in Valencia so we see this as thank you to him for all his efforts. He is able to do some very important testing work on the new CBR600RR, which is still in the early stages of development."
"I am really happy to be riding for Hannspree Ten Kate Honda again," said Andrew. "I had a great time in Valencia and I felt like I worked well with the guys so it's an honour to be asked to ride in Assen. I understand how important this race is for the team so I'm going to come and do my absolute best - let's hope we can go one better than Valencia and see a full Ten Kate line-up on the podium."
