The opening round of the pure road racing season, the Cookstown 100 National Road Races is set and ready to go on Saturday 28th April, with practice during the evening of Friday 27th.

The thirteen race event organised by Cookstown and District Motorcycle Club is also the opening round of the prestigious Duke Road Race Rankings Championship 2007, which runs over 24 rounds in all.

Whilst many of the main protagonists in the 2006 Duke Road Race Rankings having been getting themselves and their machines fine-tuned on the short circuits of Ireland and the UK over the past weeks, this is the first time that they will rekindle their love of racing between the hedges. The very hectic season ahead is crammed into five months, from the end of April to mid September.

The line-up of riders, the traditional season-opener has attracted is impressive, with Aussie ace, Cameron Donald back again for another crack on the Irish roads, along with new team-mate, Scottish rider Keith Amor. Both riders have scored short circuit victories already this season on the Uel Duncan Honda's.

Local team McAdoo Kawasaki, have their new pilot, Raymond Porter ready to go, as do Relentless Suzuki by TAS, with Ballymoney man Adrian Archibald all geared up and wanting to score his first road-race win of 2007.

The Dunlop family is out in force too, with Robert and sons Michael and William along side their cousin Sam helping fill the grids in their respective races all will be out to regain their form of the past season. Manxman, Conor Cummins will also be on the grid, having already tasted success on the short circuits this season.

Add in the likes of John Burrows, Barry Davidson, John Donnan, plus his team rider Wayne Kirwan, Carl Rennie, Davy Morgan, Victor Gilmore, Paul Cranston, Liam Quinn and Dwyer Agnew, and all the ingredients are in place for a great days racing.

Ian Lougher, Martin Finnegan, Guy Martin who topped the Duke Rankings at the end of 2006 are absent, due to BSB commitments in preparation for the North West 200 and the Isle of Man TT.
