Lavilla battles his way to race one win.

The Airwaves Ducati team of Gregorio Lavilla and Leon Haslam finished first and second during the first race of round four of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park.

Defending Champion, Ryuichi Kiyonari completed the podium line up and was very much part of the action during the thrilling seventeen lap race.

When the lights went out it was Kiyo who jumped straight into the lead with Lavilla and Haslam giving chase. Tom Sykes on the Stobart Honda put his front row start to good use by running in fourth place; however that didn't last long as Leon Camier on the Bike Animal Honda scythed underneath him. One lap later and Sykes was taken by his hard charging team-mate Shane Byrne but he did regain the place later in the race to finish ahead of him.

Camier was on a roll and managed to get up into third place shoving Haslam out of the way at Shell corner. Rizla Suzuki's tough weekend went from bad to worse when Chris Walker went down at Hizzy's chicane. He had qualified in thirteenth but got off the line well and was up to ninth when he crashed out.

Lavilla moved into the lead on lap five at Lodge corner and kept Kiyo behind for quite some time. His team-mate Haslam was also on the move and reclaimed his third position from Camier. Rea, who didn't get a good start but was working his way through the pack passing both the Stobart Hondas in quick succession, he continued his passing spree by taking Camier at Island bend and securing fourth place.

At the front the gloves were off and it was Haslam on the move, taking Kiyo at Lodge. He now had the race lead and his team-mate in sight, he made is decisive move once again at Lodge corner where both the Airwaves machines almost touched.

On the penultimate lap Lavilla forced Haslam out of his way at Shell corner, making the young Brit lift his machine out of his way. Haslam tried to take the lead back through the sweeping Cascades but to no avail.
