View Full Version : Donington National Lap Times
Just read that the Mini Twin race series (max 72bhp) record is 1:19
This seems really fast for such a bike. What times do you guys do around here?

1.14 the other week by a mate of mine :gazzer: will let you know my own in about 2 weeks never timed myself round there before
I think that time will be on the short circuit, on the full circuit a fast rider on a producion bike would do well to get in the 1:40's

Clucking bell! That is fast! If he's not already, he should be racing.
My best is 1.17 on me K5 1000 on slicks
Thats a proper time off transponder or laptimer and not someones moble?
Under a 1.20 is fast enough not to be embarassed in a club race and will have you running at front of fast group on a trackday.
Haven't done full circuit for a while, but a 1.43 on me old R1 wasn't hang around

**** me that's quick, on the Gixer I can just about do 1 min 20's, the R6 I could do 1 min 18's during a race, and that was finishing in the top ten of an MRO round.
For the GP circuit, 1 min 48's. (Gixer, never used GP circuit for racing)

i think bob collins held the derby pheonix lap record there last year for a club racer at 1.14, so if your mate is doing the same, he's either bleeden quick, or a liar.
dony is a very flowing circuit, so a good rider on a minitwin with no traffic can easily run at 1.20's, have you seen how fast the 125's go on the GP circuit?
my fastest last year on my 750 with laptimer is 1.17.48, which would have qualified me 5th on the grid if i was racing in DP thunderbikes..... but i dont race, just nice to see how the times compare..

Yeah 1:48 ish on GP circuit for me... again done with a lap timer - against all trackday rules but how else do you know if your improving or not?
Cant remember on the national circuit, will dig out my KRC race times from a few years back, but think I can prob go quicker now, the old trumpet wasnt the fastest thing in the world ! :D .. but 1:20 sounds about right.

I should be laughing at the above, but have seen the fat boy ride he's not taking the piss!

1:17 in 2004 on a 98 r1 ng streetstocks ,,1:19 2005 on a 2003 gsxr1000 open race.(don't ask)..1:14 around the national is really quick that would put you in the top 5 of the ng powerbike last year.im off to donny with hottrax soon so ill see if i continue my trend and do a 1:23 ha ha ha ha

Mark, are these :angry1: yours mate? LOL
Yah cheeky bugga!!! How was the holiday?
Tony, Almeria was awesome. Fantastic track, but bloody hard to learn. Took me until end of second day to start to have a good idea where I was supposed to be going!
Anyway, when I highsided the k5 at donny, I had more airtime than 1.14 before I hit the kitty litter.

My mate clocked me at consistant 1:30's round the National circuit, but the bike was bog standard road trim and wasn't quite paid for at the time. That's my excuse. (that and the fact that I'm a slow old fart...)
1:54 on the GP circuit... completely standard K5 600 on road tyres... dunno about national. everyone else was on road legal track tyres and slicks with tyre warmers... I was quite the odd one out... first trackday ever and loved it
