Not wanting to steal his thunder but would just like to say congrats to Steve (one of GJ's resident racers :thumbsup:) on a good ride in his "all comers" final at Donnington yesterday which he won, not sure of your other results mate but well done :a1:

It was the 'B' final though..
A monumental cock-up on my part (my decision to change tyres before my first race -which didn't happen in time) meant that I started my heat on cold tyres with no warm up lap and from pit lane. I only managed 18th from 40th in the 6 lapper so failed to make the 'A' final.
So it was a bit unfair on the other b finalists that i was in the race, but I was given a run for my money.
It was good to be out at the front, but a bit embarressing to get a trophy and magnum of champers for finishing what's 'really' 31st!
mightt have to go slow in the Qualifying heat again:mmm: !!
How'd you and Lee get on in the end? Good day?

Dont knock that free champers mate ;) I was quite consistant :bag: and finished PI/open 1000 races 27th n 26th plus I think I was 27th in heat 3 putting me in the B final too (just about, 40th n last on the grid :rolleyes:) but finished that in 22nd I think I really must learn to get a start and run a decent(ish) speed on cold tyres as it takes me 2 laps to start pushing then the race is almost done :slap: knocked almost 2 seconds of my time from the start of the day though plus it was my first time there on a thou and 2nd time ever :shrug:.
Lee missed heat 3 as his fork seals blew in the warm up but he got out in the PI/open 1000 races finishing 20th and 15th but was in the C final starting at the back and finished 5th overall
All in all though it was a good day, came home in one piece and we got good weather all day.
When you out next, Thruxton or are you gunna fit something in before?

TBH mate, I don't even think about cold tyres on the first lap, I just get stuck in. The warm up lap at Donington is enough to get them pretty hot especially on a warm day.
The first corner is where you'll do most of your overtaking so don't hang about.
Great stuff that you're knocking big chunks off your laptimes, wish i could say the same.
Yeah, i still hope to do Thruxton at the end of the year and maybe Mallory 'race of the year' meeting.
When you lads out next? I might come and watch/helpout if it's close.

We were due to do cadwell at the end of the month but I've just had to cancel due to a slightly low bank balance not sure if Lee's still gunna do it though but we're def both out at Oulton Sept 1st but we're gunna have to try n get a trackday there in August as we've only ever seen the place on tv :eek: then Lee's gunna try Thruxton too I think (far too quick for me that one) he's also got to fit a new era round in somewhere as he's got a freebie from em to use up

Definitely doing Thruxton though, 'cos NOBODY can test their, levels the playing field a bit!

I've decided to go back to Dony with New Era on August 12th, can Lee make that one?
(it makes sense for me cos I know it fairly well now and didn't sepend money on tyres last time)
I'm also doing the last dp at Cadwell end of September now.
My mate Martin who did his first ever race at the Dp Dony is doing Oulton too, so I'll almost certainly be coming along to Spanner/take pics/cheer everyone on.. see you there.:)
