Mattia Pasini dominated the 125cc Dutch TT to take his second win in a row at Assen.

The 21-year-old Italian started from pole position and, despite losing the lead to Simone Corsi at the first corner, was never headed once he hit the front at the end of the opening lap.

The Polaris World Aprilia rider then pulled away to win by 6.115 seconds and take an easy sixth win of his career.

"Today it feels like a perfect day," said Pasini. "The bike was amazing and I could set my own pace to whatever I wanted and we got the job done.

"A big thanks to the team. After the failures we've had this year two wins in two races is very good. If we're all united we can maybe look at winning the championship, but it's not my focus any more."

Behind Pasini things got more than a little crowded as a six-bike battle for second ensured over the whole race distance.

It involved the Aspar Aprilia trio of Sergio Gadea, Hector Faubel and Gabor Talmacsi, Corsi's Skilled-run version, the KTM of Tomoyoshi Koyama - who had a great start from 13th on the grid - and Lukas Pesek's Seedorf Derbi.

The pack shuffled themselves throughout the race, although Gadea put in a brilliant defensive performance to hang onto second from lap two onwards.

What he had not bargained on though was a demon move from Talmacsi at the last corner of the race - at Assen's famous Gert Timmer chicane.

As the Hungarian dived inside Gadea on the brakes he missed his turning-in point, forcing the Spaniard wide and exiting the turn in the wrong gear.

That allowed Faubel to get by both of them and finish second on the line. It was a big moment for him as he extended his championship lead over Faubel from three points to seven with half the season now gone.

Talmacsi and Gadea filled out the top four with Corsi fifth, Koyama sixth and Pesek seventh.

Behind them Austrian Michael Ranseder came out on top of a race-long battle with Sandro Cortese and Stefan Bradl to claim eighth spot for Ajo Derbi. Cortese on a Caffe Latte Aprilia and Bradl on a Blusens Aprilia came in behind him.

It was a bad day for British rider Danny Webb who crashed his de Graaf Honda out on lap four after shunting at the Timmer chicane, and narrowly avoided taking out Steve Bonsey and Andrea Iannone with him.

Frenchman Mike di Meglio was another crasher on his Scot Honda while Robert Muresan retired with technical problems.
