Gabor Talmacsi was in dominant form at the 125cc German Grand Prix as he claimed a lights-to-flag victory and re-took the championship lead.

The 26-year-old Hungarian led away from pole position and kept pulling clear of the rest of the field to win by 3.532 seconds from Tomoyoshi Koyama and Hector Faubel, taking the championship lead from his Aspar Aprilia team-mate in the process.

"It was all about the start because in the last few races I made mistakes," said Talmacsi, who took the fifth win of his career. "Here I wanted to make a good start and go away.

"I made a very fast first ten laps and after that just kept the distance behind me. It was very hot, the rear tyre was sliding a lot and so I just rode at 90 per cent for the rest of the race."

The start proved a benefit to the Aspar team as the Jorge Martinez-owned bikes went into the first corner as one, but Talmacsi, who emerged just in front of the pack, was imperious and was never headed thereafter.

The battle for second soon turned into a fight between eight riders with Lukas Pesek taking the spot from Faubel on lap four on his Seedorf Derbi and Simone Corsi following him though, but only after banging fairings with the Spaniard.

Pesek began to drop back though with Corsi settling into the runners-up spot on his Skilled Aprilia. The Czech, Faubel, Sandro Cortese's Caffe Latte Aprilia and the KTMs of Randy Krummenacher and Koyama next up.

Koyama's progress from 15th on the grid continued on lap seven as he snuck inside Krummancher at the uphill final corner, and he soon took advantage of tyre problems for Cortese and Pesek to come up to fourth.

With just a handful of laps to go he dived inside Faubel for third at turn one and then repeated the move on Corsi a lap later to claim a well-deserved second place.

Faubel also got by Corsi as he turned in the fastest laps of the race close to the end, a result that saw his seven-point championship lead over Talmacsi become a two-point deficit.

Fifth should have gone to Sergio Gadea on the third Aspar bike, but the Spaniard crashed at the final corner, allowing Krummenacher, Pesek and Cortese all to gain spots.

Britain's Bradley Smith inherited eighth on his Repsol Honda with the battling Blusens Aprilia of class veteran Pablo Nieto and the Ajo Derbi of Michael Ranseder completing the top ten.

Britain's Danny Webb came home 27th on his de Graaf Honda, but the unluckiest man, as ever, was Polaris World Aprilia rider Mattia Pasini, who began the race looking to become the first Italian for eight years to win three 125cc races in a row.

His hopes took a nose dive at the start as he bogged down, arriving at turn one in 12th place. As if that was not bad enough he was tagged by his countryman Raffale de Rosa in an incident that took down not only the pair but also Pol Espargaro.

Although the trio re-mounted at the back, all three were forced out later on with accident damage with a tearful Pasini inconsolable in the pits as he lay his head against his bike's fuel tank.
