The official annual junkies track day (#2 revenge of the junkies :D)

After speaking to Tink and Jase750 about the Junkies annual track day, I've managed to secure a date with Donington for us to take over the place for a day. :worship:

The nearest date to Easter weekend we can have is Thursday, March 27th, and it's a noisy day. :D
IMPORTANT NOTICE
THIS DATE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO FRIDAY, MARCH 28th
SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENANCE BUT THIS IS OUT OF OUR CONTROL

At the moment there will be 3 groups, Novice, Inters, and Fast, but we can change the groups around nearer the date depending on interest for each group.

Track Attack will provide ACU approved instructors and traveling marshals that will help cut down on red flags by pushing peeps out of the gravel rather than stopping the session. :lol:

The day is ours if we get enough people to book.
UPDATED. Dec 19th
Members and one mate have until January 18th to pay for there place in full, and IF, we haven't 150 places paid for by then members can invite as many mates to ride as they like on a first come first served basis until January 31st.

IF, and that's a big IF, there's still places left, they will go on sale to the general public on February 1st.


I've also arranged for Steve from Peak Performance to come up armed with spanners.
He can offer a suspension set up service for people that are interested for a set price, and trust me, the bloke knows his onions.
He's also going to speak directly to Bridgestone and Michelin to see if he can get them to give us a one day discount on tyres as well as bringing a selection of slicks and wets for the hardcore track day addict although he wont be able to fit them but Donny will have a tyre man there.

I spoke to Paul Jinks today who owns Track Bits.http://www.trickbitsuk.com/
He goes to all the race meets and selected track days armed with everything from spare levers to a selection of tyre warmers for sale, as well as a supplying tyres at track side with a fitting service.
He's offered to provide his services for the day depending if Mr Donington says it's OK, and has agreed to give all junkies members a 10% discount on the day, as well as all year round. :D:D:D

This is a perfect opportunity for the track day virgin to get that cherry popped amongst friends.
Those that did Cadwell last Easter will know it'll be a riot.

Update 13/11/07.............

Right, we have a deal with Donington. :D:D:D:D:D

There will be 4 sessions on the day, one of which will be used by The Biketyre store to do some testing ( which shouldn’t interfere with our day ) , but the rest of it is exclusive to us.
We will get a free bacon roll per rider, and unlimited tea and coffee throughout the day.
We will also receive 2-1 all day access on Thursday and Friday to the motor museum on site, so you can enter for £3.50 each and you can go in and leave as many times as you want which is great for those who are coming to watch, and great for those that aren't traveling home until the Friday, like myself and Zuki.

They are also providing a bike rental service, and a photographer who will also be doing dvd on bike recordings.

All that for £100 per rider. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Track attack will be taking full and final payments as from 1pm on Monday, November 19th on a first come first serve basis, and in case you didn't know, Donny is normally around £165 for the GP circuit, which is what we've got, and in case your maths is as bad as mine, that's a saving of £65. :lol:


When you book, just tell them what group you want and Track Attack will let me know what group formats will suit our needs best depending on who wants what.

When you've paid up, let me know and I'll add confirmed next to your name on the list.

This date will not be advertised to the public until mid January, if at all if we fill it up, so you wont find it on there website so you must phone to book.

Spoke to Caroline from track attack today and they have informed me that they will allow people with restricted licences on this track day providing you use your own bike which should be restricted.

And Caroline has been reading this thread as a way of watching the interest, so be warned, Donny is watching. ;)

I think it would be fair on everyone if we make it one friend per member so that all registered users get a fair chance to book.

If there's places left nearer the time or people have dragged there heals in booking then we should make it a free for all, then nobody can complain because I think it would be a little unfair if an established member couldn't get in for everyone bringing all there mates.

I for one have been asked if I can fit 20+ non junkies members in but until we give everyone a fair chance I've asked them to wait.

JUST HEARD FROM SMALLBOYS TRACKBIKE HIRE

And he says

I will be bringing a few TDR members to the party if that's ok with you Scotty.
Currently me + 2 but will be a few more. Figure we have enough spaces to go around.

I think it would be fair on everyone if we make it one friend per member so that all registered users get a fair chance to book.

If there's places left nearer the time or people have dragged there heals in booking then we should make it a free for all, then nobody can complain because I think it would be a little unfair if an established member couldn't get in for everyone bringing all there mates.

I for one have been asked if I can fit 20+ non junkies members in but until we give everyone a fair chance I've asked them to wait.

I last spoke to Donny on Wednesday and they said they would phone me back in the next couple of days.

They'd probably be grateful of someone else asking Q's other than me asking Q's.

They've always aloud people to camp outside the gates on the grass but wont allow anyone inside the gates.
They will allow you to put bikes and trailers in the garages over night while you swan off to a hotel or kip in yu tent.

Novice, intermediate, Fast, and a group that someone else is having for testing.

Each group takes turns to have a 15 minute session on track while everyone else gets to stand around talking bollocks for 45 minutes :D (which flies by) before they go out again.

If people don't keep falling off, or running out of fuel half way round the track, we could all get 7 sessions in which enough knacker out any man.

I rang Caroline this morning and she had no idea of the deal that's been done due to a breakdown in communication on Doningtons part.

I know Donny is fast so gearing wont be such the issue as I found it to be at Brands.... Come on Donny Vets, what should I do? :D

Pete you'll be best with gearing somewhere in the middle as half the time you'll be accelerating out of slow corners and half fast sweepers.
The best set up I found was very slightly high gearing with the bike tuned for low down grunt :)
