Junkies track day camping.........

Donington have offered to let people camp inside the gates at the circuit which isn't something they normally do, but if enough people are interested this can be sorted in the way of extra security that night to protect everybody's interests, what ever that means. :D

So, who is interested?

I've been told by Donington park that they are watching this thread so they have some idea of interest. :thumbsup:

I personally would rather camp on the trackside, especially if I don't have a van in time as it means getting up and pulling the tent down before the day starts.. Knowing that I will get tired I would possibly want a power hour during lunch or somit and would be a pain in the arse to have to pitch a tent again as well as would mean I'd have to get up earlier to get out of the campsite... therefore more tired for the day!

Spoke to Donington yesterday and they've agreed to let people camp inside the gates for free as long as we fill the 150 places required.

If we don't, they will charge the people wanting to camp to cover the extra security guard costs.

Not sure of a price but here's hoping we fill it huh.:dunno:

I spoke to Caroline from Track Attack today about filling the remaining places and it's been agreed that the +1 rule will be lifted on Jan18th so it'll be a free for all for anybody wanting to bring as many mates as they like on a first come first serve basis.

Not only will this keep it a junkies only day, it will mean the camping will be free if we get all 150 places filled. :D

So, if you've not booked yet, it's time to pull your finger out. :D

An email it recived from Caroline a week or so ago which she's ok with me posting.................

As you have filled the day (or almost) then we are able to offer you the option of camping in the paddock overnight. This would be in paddock 2 and is available on the 27th March only. There is a car trackday on the 27th March so entry to the circuit would be after 5.30pm. You are able to access the park before then but we will only allow people in the paddock once all of the days track activity has finished and people begin to leave. Paddock 1 and the garages will then be open from 7am on the 28th March. We would also request that everyone leaves the paddock after the trackday has finished, we are unable to offer the option of overnight camping on the 28th March.

I have parked my bike and trailer before in one of the garages over night which has been specified by the security guard, not garage number 7 though! ;)

I will ask the question for you though but I wouldn't hold your breath because if everyone wants to do this it could become a logistical nightmare for there security guards.

Donington will sometimes make one garage available for use as storage. That means for everyone unless you're a pukka race team and can pay for your storage by them reserving you a garage. The garages are secured overnight so you won't be able to use electricity. I haven't read through all of this, but I'd be surprised if they let you camp in the paddock itself. They leave themselves open to risk by idiots deciding to take a venture out on to the track in the middle of the night. as it is easily accessible from the paddock side. Even the TDOs have to camp outside to be let in on the day. What that basically boils down to is no you wouldn't have access to power from the garages unless Donington are setting on some special priveleges for you.

Update for you….our very nice security man has just advised me that you are able to take over the entire paddock on the evening of the 27th March which means the garages and paddock 1! I suppose this also means if anyone wants to take the risk they are able to drop off trailors or anything they wish the night before if they are staying at b&b’s/hotels. Although this is at your own risk there shall be a security man on the main gate, a security man who works at the paddock gate but patrols the park at night and also a security man who will remain at the paddock gate all night especially to keep an eye on you lot!



This is a one off so if people return to us another time on a trackday we won’t be allowing them inside the paddock!!!!

I know everyone here is responsible(ahemm). I'd just like to mention the need to keep on top of your rubbish overnight and during the next day.. we dont want the place looking like the aftermath from Glastonbury after we leave.
As we need to leave pretty sharpish on the Friday night(all out by 5.30pm) I suggest everyone takes down thier tents and pack in the morning or over lunch, then has a check over the area to make sure it's tidy.
I know everyone will... but with the excitement people could forget...
Just planting the seed.
The last thing any of us wants is Scotty getting calls on the Friday night about the state of the place.

I would have thought there would not be too early a limit (ie you could go out for grub and come back ok) as isn't there security on all night? They might get a bit funny if you tried getting in at 2am but 10-11pm I would hazard a guess at being ok... give caroline a call mate

Peeps from kent meeting in services on the M1. It's been mentioned but no definates, so here goes.

Leaving Herne Bay at 2pm. So at the said services by 3.30-4pm. (i'm sure if i'm to far out with that Chester will comment soon enough) So how does 4'ish sit with everybody else?
