After just returning from the Macau GP, what can i say about Steve Plater apart from big balls and a fantastic ride, from the first early morning practice he was under the lap record straight away, whatever Rutter are Johnny Mac threw down on the time sheets he bettered it. Rutter took pole with a 2.26.644 for the final qualifying session , is all Steve could do was sit in garage and watch the screen as his mechanic tried so hard to find a gremlin misfire. He managed to get out with 3 min remaining to no improvement as she still misfired .
The one guy who looked like he was up for a good scrap was Guy Martin , poor old Guy lost the front of his bike early on in the week and hit the armco barrier in practice 3, suffering a broken wrist and the tip of his thumb broken. Warm up on sat morning went to plan for Plater as he was fastest and the AIM YAMAHA was ready for the 15 lap race. Rutter was struggling
with a fueling problem. Plater was 2 seconds faster than anyone in warm up. Johnny Mac was flying and looking good for a podium. The race started with Johnny Mac taking a early lead, within half a lap Plater took the lead and looked like he was not to be passed , but Johnny Mac did a fantastic job to pass him a couple of times, he looked so smooth on the Honda. Rutter was having a good battle withThomas Hinterreiter for third place and put up the fastest lap of the race at half distance and was looking good. Then on lap 10 Rutter ended up running on up the slip road which put him back in eleventh place. The race was then left between hard pushing Plater and the ever smooth Johnny Mac. On the top twisty part of the circuit ,John looked the fastest but on the lower fast flowing part of the circuit Steve was alot quicker, on the last both riders were within 1.2 seconds of each other , it was looking like it was going to be a grand stand finish when with five corners to go they hit two back markers going into the hairpin , Steve pushed his way up the inside and got through , John played it safe and waited until they were up and out of the hairpin before making a pass on them , by that time Steve had done enough to make the break and went over the line to take his second victory at the Macau . Fantastic race,
