I received an email from Caroline regarding the junkies track day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please read!
Just a quick email update from me:
Just to advise that I currently have 87 bookings for the 28th March. Although this is really good there are still 65 places to fill if you wish to have an exclusive day. I noticed that you have approx 135 people on the list so it appears there are still approx 50 people who are still yet to confirm and pay. We also only have just 6 novice places left so any novices may want to hurry and book.
Once the places go on sale to the general public (on the 1st Feb) we would need to charge everyone the same price which would be £174 for a noise day so people really should book soon if they want the day for £100 otherwise I don’t want them to be disappointed. £100 really is a bargain!
Those who are booked into the novice group that are not complete novice riders and can live in the inters, could you please ring Track Attack and ask to be moved up to make room for the complete novice.
Can I ask the same from those that have booked inters who feel they are fast inters riders to move up if they feel they won't be a danger to others.

I know what you mean Jase :) but this has been up for 2 months now.......
£12.50 a week and it would all be paid for by now :whistle:
I've already asked if we can do deposits deal with Donny but they can't offer that deal with it being so cheap compared to there normal price. :shrug:

Although I only joined here as an intro today as I'll be meeting you guys at the big day, I have a section of riders from my job that are keen to get on this. If you're ever at the stage where you need to open it up to others to get the discounted price keep me informed please. It's a credit to the organisers for this taking off and it deserves to be a success.

I think I could possibly live in the inters but as its my 1st trackday, I'll stay in novice, maybe see if I could move up on the day if I'm too good:whistle: :whistle:
I spoke to Caroline from Track Attack today about filling the remaining places and it's been agreed that the +1 rule will be lifted on Jan18th so it'll be a free for all for anybody wanting to bring as many mates as they like on a first come first serve basis.
Not only will this keep it a junkies only day, it will mean the camping will be free if we get all 150 places filled. :D
So, if you've not booked yet, it's time to pull your finger out. :D

Tommo in novice???? :whistle: :whistle: You'd both be alright in Inters Mozzie. In fact there's a few names in the Novice group that I'm surprised to see in there - stop under-rating yourselves folks
the reason for novice is i dont want to wreck my bike by pushing it, it would ruin my whole year if i fall off in march lol

As far as I'm concerned this is no ordinary track and people must respect the fact that some people in the groups might be a little, how shall I say, of the pace a bit more than norm so a little patience and respect is needed.
I have asked in others threads if people who feel thy can live safely in a faster group to move up, because it would be such a shame for people to miss this.

I hav'nt done Donny before but have done about 40 track days in the fast group at other tracks, i'm booked in inters for the GJ's day with a view to moving up after a couple of sessions.
For those who have done track days before i think would be perfectly ok to go in inters even if you hav'nt done Donny, a good idea is to download a track map and keep looking at it between now and the big day, also look at some videos on YouTube of people driving round it, i say driving because you get a better idea of where the track goes rather than on a bike which will be cranked over in the bends.
Hopefully some more people will move up from novice after reading this!!!!!!!!

I had an email from Donny telling me it's full but it seems not everyone has had chance to let us know they've booked yet.
Ref your camping question from another thread, if we fill the day you can turn up when you like on the Thurs and stay for 24hrs for free.

might be a small problem with moving up a group, when i phoned up today to book 2 places in inters they told me that there was only 5 places left in that group, that was at about 3pm, not sure ho we will be fixed.
i tried to get novice but could only get inters, if anyone wants to swap groups with me please pm me,

If things get really tight in Inters... just how fast is Fast? Am I likely to die if I make the sacrifice of moving up from Inters - I can't believe I'm asking this, I've only done a couple of days in Inters.
Would probably learn loads I suppose but I'm cautious of moving in to a group that's beyond me and mixing it with the big boys on a road bike only fitted with 2CTs, no tyre warmers, and sod all talent :whistle: :lol: Getting passed all day doesn't bother me at all, just don't want to get in anybodys way

FAST: 30 left

If things get really tight in Inters... just how fast is Fast? Am I likely to die if I make the sacrifice of moving up from Inters - I can't believe I'm asking this, I've only done a couple of days in Inters.

If you can get around Donington in sub 2:00 mins you'll be fine in the fast group. Not many, (if any), will be hitting the high 1:30s or low 1:40s especially if the weather isn't right. This will be my first year using tyre warmers, (and a slipper clutch and quickshifter!), but I'm sure there'll be others there that aren't on warmers. I can run in the fast group using Dunlop GP Racers without warmers, (1:49s), so 2 CTs as a similar tyre shouldn't be a problem. If you were front third of inters then I'd consider it. If you're mid pack or bottom third I'd think twice. Having said that I'm not sure how this day will pan out. Seems more like an intro to trackdays for the forum members who haven't tried it before and a lot of you know each other, so I don't expect to see many block passes going on like you'd expect on normal trackdays.

Don't forget though this is probably more an intro day than a balls out trackday. Confidence is more important than talent on this day IMO. If you are confident you can pick a line and stick to it and not be fazed when you're tipped over going as fast as you think you can and suddenly around the outside or underneath as you start braking comes someone else going umpteen MPH faster, then you should be fine. The weather has to be spot on for me to go full on so if it isn't I expect there'll be others like me taking it nice and steady. The R1 is worth a lot more to me in one piece than it is in the gravel.
If you do any days on track that are with TDOs, then stick with inters as it can get a tad quick. There might be times when you just want to have a couple of steady laps at a slower pace and on normal trackdays in the fast group you don't always get that opportunity.

If you can be smooth so you don't look like your wrestling a bloke off your Missus, and you can hold a steady line without 50 pencing around the corners so others can work out where to pass you without having to worry your going to change your line half way through the corner punting someone into the gravel, you'll be fine!
Don't be sucked into trying too hard or trying to keep up with others because you'll get yourself into trouble.

Making the decison to book a fast group place is scarier than booking your first novice place IMO.............if you're a fast inters rider the Junkies track day is the ideal opportunity to try out the fast group in perfect safety as it's amongst friends who will help you out if you need it
I find the fast group really safe and confidence inspiring......you can watch someone come past you on the brakes and learn a new braking point, follow someone round a corner and learn a new line or get passed on the straight and wsh you had an extra coupla cc's lol ;)
If you fancy it, do it, you can always be moved back down on the day if it's too much :)
People in fast group will make passes quick and decisive without upsetting people..You will of course get exceptions but i am pretty confident that nobody here will jepordise any other member or members friend out on track..If you are top 10 of inters then this is a great time to give fast a go...you wont go back
ok will stay as I am but if on the day I am holding my own in inters will be happy to move up to make room for a swap round if peeps think I'm upto it!
right i couldnt manage to move up to the inters today to free up space in the novice group coz it was full so need 2 willing volenteers to move up to the fast group if somone needs 2 novice places me and kappa 636 will move up. pm me if neones gonna do it or needs the novice places

If you can be smooth so you don't look like your wrestling a bloke off your Missus, and you can hold a steady line without 50 pencing around the corners so others can work out where to pass you without having to worry your going to change your line half way through the corner punting someone into the gravel, you'll be fine!

Itching To Go has moved from Inters to Fast and has confirmed this with Caroline so there is now a spot in the Inters group for the quickest phoner!
It looks like im out. Just spoken to Caroline to pay for my place and my +1 which I believed were reserved and only needed paying for before the cut of date. It seems only one space is available and my other one has been sold. I wont be going without my +1.

there was the whos interested list but that wasnt to reserve a place, only way to be sure of place was to book it and pay
Ah well my misunderstanding, I thought that as I was on the list my places were sorted. I should have paid more attention. Looks like there is a place in inters for someone then.
The +1 had been causing me a problem as my other mates who usually go with us were not happy me and Dave were down to do a day they were not invited to. Plenty of other TD's on the cards next season anyway. I might pop over on my road bike for a look if i've not booked anything else.

It was a few years ago as a guide, but now its just 10% (traffic cop guide for west yorkshire anyway should be the same elsewhere). 32mph can be contested due to speedo inconsistancies.

Every now and then regions do a zero tolerance clampdown, dunno if that includes gatso's though.
