Think there is a few in groups that they are not comfy with mucka....* Shiner wanted inters too and ended up in fast so I wouldnt worry too much kidda cause I think people are gonna be alot more considerate than on your average trackday..Just try and kick back and enjoy..!!*****

+1

If you read the many threads on this subject and add the fact that we are all from the same sit and have basically booked the whole track for the day....and....and...

...and if it looks like if you are a bit out of place in the fast group peeps will give you a bit of room and the organisers will try to move people between groups on the day..!

I say don't worry about it....unless someone is willing to upgrade then it will sort itself out on the day...!!

think of it more as a fast inters group not a fast fast group

both of you don't worry it's gonna be more like a second inters group from the looks of it i rode for a total of 1 hour last year first half hour ended with the bike in a million bits and me in the medical centre and a year of phsyio and things still ain't right second half hour was testing the bike after the rebuild and had loads of teething probs so didn't get much track time then so i doubt you'll be getting in the way of me cos i'm gonna be a bit rusty to say the least only reason i moved was to make room in inters cos i have ridden fast groups before and alot of the time the general pace isn't that far off the normal inters group usually just the odd few showing everyone how it should be done so relax and enjoy it the knack is if they come hacking past think wow ...if they crawl past latch on and learn a bit off em before they eventually drop you wash and repeat :b10:

Dont worry rep dude im right there with you, im in fast and iv never seen the track before!!

I know some people get to the fast group and then just go fast at every track, i can ride fast group at silverstone and brands because iv done them a bit but i normally go inters the first time i ride a new track.

anyway will be fine were in good company so no one is going to elbow you out the way :)

anyway im bringing a tow rope to attach to matt :)

thinking of that we could do a buddy system where for the first session someone who knows the track teams up with someone that doesnt, he rides a little bit slower so the other guy can follow just for the first session?

dont know if that will work..

I can try and show you the way, I have raced there several times..... but that was 5 years ago. Not a lots changed, except the new ish surface which is now nearly as bumpy as before and not very grippy which is odd. Something aint right with the tarmac... many have commented on it.

Thinking of it as a faster inters group is a good way of approaching it I think and I for one will start the day nice and steady to work out how things are looking because it won't be the usual nail it straight away out of the pit lane track day.

As Zuki said in another thread, the jump from novice to inters is daunting, and inters to fast is terrifying, more so than your first track day.

IMO the fast group is the safest group because people generally know what they're doing and don't put stupid moves on people because they've seen it all before from experience.

Just keep it smooth and ride the track like you own it, that way you'll become consistent and a faster boy/girl will suss you out quickly and know when it's safe to pass.

I'm sure some of the faster boys on here will agree with me on this, but you soon start to recognise certain riders and their style as the day goes on in a way that you know they're on there limit as you catch, they aren't sure where they're going, if they don't like being passed, if their riding style is aggressive, their bike is running out of puff or to avoid them like the plague.

I don't think it's a good idea to be giving people tows around the track even though I've joked about it in he past, because looking over your shoulder to see if you've dropped someone or not is deadly, and considering you won't be running at full speed because your waiting someone will obviously make it easier for you to be caught but much faster riders who will wonder what the hell your doing running in a convoy.
The instructors that will be there on the day are ACU approved instructors who have been trained to instruct, and are FREE, so use them.

I'm in the Novice group and said I would step up to the Inters on my next track day, however, I now have a totally new bike for the track and as I haven't really ridden it, I think novice is better!

I'm going to do Snetterton in Feb... If I get on really well then I'll happily move if it helps someone else :)

Just seen this thread and have to agree that as its our day we can pretty much marshall ourselves and i,m sure if anyone is really struggling by lunchtime it can be sorted out to everyones satisfaction. It really can spoil your day if you just loose all confidence in yourself and you end up just trying to hide out of other peeps way. I have only been to Donny a couple of times and that was 4 years ago so i,m in the inters. It will be a steep learning curve for me, but i am normally a fast group kind of guy so will just have to see how i go.

I,m sure someone has already got this in hand, but i think everyone would find it helpful if the organisers ( on here i mean) sort of stood up and said hello to us all before we started. I for one would like to shake their hands for their outstanding work.:worship:
