View Full Version : Suspension set up at the Junkies trackday.......
Steve Whitier from Peak Performance has been kind enough to shut his shop for the day and come to the Junkies track day and offer his services with setting up peoples suspension for a small fee.
Steve runs a bike shop here in the South West and looks after a fair few junkies bikes and they'll back me up on what a top bloke he is and trust me, you will not find a bloke that is more passionate about bikes than Steve, and how the bloke makes money I'll be buggered if I know.
Although he will only be doing suspension set up on the day, Steve does everything from preparing race bikes, servicing, Ktech re valving, tyre fitting, as well as supplying and fitting all manner of goodies for your steed.
He held the lap record at Pembray up until a few years ago so can understand what your asking from the bike and is very good at explaining how your suspension works in idiot terms which suits me perfectly.
Put it this way, this bloke transformed my bike and I swear by him.
He will do a complete suspension set up (including your static sag and rider sag) throughout the day so you can go back and tell him how it feels and what you'd like so it's perfect, for £40. (pay on the day)
He'll also do a basic set up with minor adjustments for £20. (pay on the day)
Trust me, having your suspension set up will transform your bike and is one of the cheapest performance upgrades you can get.
Please post on this thread so Steve can check the site to see how much interest he has.
Also, Steve is offering all junkies a deal on tyres.
A pair of Michelin Pilot power race tyres, soft front, medium or medium soft rear for £200 supply only.
I'm giving up the Pirellis to try them on good advice. :D
If you want some, ring him on 01392255000, pay for them over the phone and he'll bring them along on the day.
*EDIT*
The tyres aren't Pilot Power race, (my mistake) they're Power Race , which Steve will do for £200 all year round for Junkies members and he'll also do 2cts for £200.
Paul from http://www.trickbitsuk.com/ has agreed to come along with his support truck full of goodies :worship: so he can fit them on the day for you as well.
Please don't spam this thread with tyre questions and dribble because I'll just ask for the posts to be removed.
Just ring Steve and pay your money for your rubber because this thread is about suspension, and we really don't need anymore tyre threads on the site, do we? :a2:
Does this apply to participating riders only? Or can those riding up to spectate have theirs done?
Does this apply to participating riders only?
No, it's on a first come first serve basis.
The peeps on the track will get the best result because they can go out and test what it feels like on track and come back in for some fine tuning, but having said that, you could always rag it around the nearest roundabout then come back.
thats what i was thinking just wasnt sure if he would be set up in one of the garages or accesible for anyone cheers dude

Spectators can walk in and out of the garages as they please.
We'll sort him out a garage and ask race control to announce which garage number he's in at the briefing, that way you can ask anybody where he is.

The garages are in the car park/paddock, so you can just push your bike into what ever garage Steve is in.
This picture was taken from pit lane.
One garage, one paddock/car park in the back ground.

I posted this in the SW Donny thread but also wanted other peeps to see it....especially those that went back to say thank you to Steve :)
I spoke to Joy (Steve from Peak Performance's wife) as we were packing up to leave on Friday and she and Steve used to run a few track days a coupla years ago....
....she said she had never experienced such a lovely bunch of people, such a nice atmosphere at a track day and that EVERYONE that had their suspension sorted on the day came back and said thank you, and that made thier day :)
I know for a fact that both of them get a big buzz from making people happy and they left on Friday very happy bunnies :D
He certainley knew his stuff, I told him what I didnt like and he dialed it out, top bloke.
