I'm sorry to put a downer on the trackday, but the weather forecast isnt looking good :(
I just spoke to my mate who I'm sharing the trailer up with, and he's not going if its raining. I've always said that I wouldn't be up for it either.
Its a long way to go, and considering we are using our road bikes, with road tyres, no replacement fairings etc + I've booked us into the fast group, I'm getting v.worried!
Am I the only one feeling this way? I'm gutted, but cant afford to bin the bike, I have ridden on Silverstone in the wet, and no matter what people say, it wasn't fun.
Zuki, I have pm'd you to see if we can get a prelim place in the inters, dont want to hold up people in the fast if we do go and its wet.
gsxr-jon, as you are sharing my room at the Melbourne view, I'll contact the hotel if I dont go and will honour my half of the room (assumin you are still going).

can deffo see what yr sayin mate but see what happens hopefully the forecasts are shit as usual, and as for the road bike thing etc i can totally understand that its my only form of transport....if you dont wanna do it if it rains then dont and dont listen to what jonny 3 bikes has to say ;0)
Can`t always rely on the forcast till a few days before, I`ll be going rain or shine, but I don`t like going out in rain,I have wets and all, it`s just the hassle of changing wheels etc.
We did Angles this weekend and it gave a terrible forcast but in the end it was almost dry all weekend got 2 full days on track, was a bit damp sunday morning but nothing needing wets.
If I was on a road bike I would er` on the side of being safe and wait till weds/thurs forcasts then decide.

This'll be my first track day so I'm going anyway, at least if its wet I'll do less damage to the bike and leathers as I slide along! :D
the thing is it may have give a crap froecast but when have they ever been right. and it could be raining were you are and dry at donnington.
if you go you can decide on the day, when you see what the weather is like but if you dont go then it is dry you will regret not going.
but and the end of the day mate the chose is yours, i am on my road bike and can not afored to bin it i will go and see what it is like then make a chose of what to do
you'll be gutted if you don't go and it ends up being dry even for half the day!

Wot number garage you going to get,
I don`t care which garage as long as there`s a plug!
Like as been said go and even if you only get a small dry spell its track time

I've pm'ed you......you need to put the places in Jase750's swop shop thread really, there's nowt I can do :(
I'm in the same boat, having moved up from inters and on my road bike, but I'm going with the intention of haveing a good day regardless, alot of effort has been put into this day by peeps on here and they cant control the weather. If I'm taking it easy at the back I'll still enjoy it. Last year I did donny the rain was torrential all morning by lunch most had gone home, but the last two session's glorious sunshine and the track to myself. Silverstone GP we rode through a tornado to get there literaly, gain by lunch it was dry a fun had all round.
don't see wha the hubub is about tbh if it rains it rains if doesn't it doesn't noones saying yu gotta go banzai just cos it's a trackday wet or dry more grip on a wet track than you think go if it rains or snows it's a social is it's dry or damp it's playtime as far as i'm concerned if we all worried about stuff like this where would the fun in life be ?
Purely personal choice whether you ride or not but all I would say is if it is raining outside do you stay at home, if you are out and it rains do you find somewhere dry and wait until the roads are dry before setting off again, do you always ride thinking oh god I hope I don't bin it? Course not - so think about it. You are on a track, no manhole covers, no deisel, no idiots in cars just nice, smooth tarmac, everyone going in the same directions and the same expectations placed on you to perform that you have on the road - ie none. No-one's expecting lap records but you wil be surprised how much fun you can have IF it is wet.
Don't pass up the chance of riding a fantastic circuit with a bunch of likeminded people just because it might rain.
+1 to that.. i rode my SV at donny a few weeks back in Frozen coditions.. (much worse in my opinion) i just took my time and enjoyed the track.. this event is not gaurenteed to happen again.. we have the whole circuit to ourselves... dont pass this up mate, because when its over and turns out it only rained for 45 mins.. you will regret not going, enhanced 100% by every one talking about it and saying how amazing it was.. i cant wait to go.. and m not even riding this one :D give it a thought mate

Been thinking about this all day. I think I will try and convince my mate to go whatever the weather. Prob is, he isnt too bothered by not going, as he has a 2 day Le Mans trackday coming up, so this day isnt such a big deal (which I totally understand). He also has the car with the towbar for our trailer...I really need to convince him!

To be honest if it rains it gives me a even better excuse for being slow,
My bike is my road bike with new 2cts on, no wets, no fancy race fairings, if i bin it then so be it,
:a2:
Will still be a class day rain or shine.

I've got a pirelli front rain tyre with plenty of life in it spare if anyone wants it, i got it off a mate who races and i've used it once at oulton. I'm at barnsley so if anyone in the area wants it for doni pm me and its yours. Tyre guy usually charges a fiver to change tyres so if it is wet your day won't be as bad as teetering round on normal road tyres.

Dont take any notice of what the weather predictions say is going to happen as they dont know there ar*e from there elbow 99% of the time, go and if the track looks iffy miss that sesson out.
There will be 7 sessons per group so chances are it will be ok for most if not all, i never bother with the forcasts i just turn up and deal with it then.
and as others have said its more than a track day its a.................................
GIXERJUNKIES TRACKDAY:luxy:
so ther will be lots of things to get on with apart from the track riding so just turn up then decide:yes:

I'll be basking in 30+ degree sunshine while you lot are at Donny, ABSOLUTELY GUTTED that I can't make the TD come rain or shine! (Stuck here in Saudi!) I'm with the advice get there and ride, even in the fast group there's always a few 'more sedate' guys, especially in the wet! Just ride at a steady pace and enjoy it you WILL regret it if you don't go! And count yourself lucky you can go.........................poor me :(

The thing is if it is raining your a less likely to high-side your bike,it tends to be a front washout so a low side which equates to yourself sliding about 25ft for every 10mls per hour which in itself is good fun. Come on lighting up,:dance3:
rain hail or shine i will be out i just wont wear a white shirt as i dont look good i a wet t shirt comp ive got great legs tho
twas snowing here (Kent) most of the morning, then about 3pm sun came out and it was a lovely afternoon.

just dont read the forcast.
it will be what it will be on the day.
i was at anglesey last weekend... rain, snow, sleet all forcast... and yet we were out in every session. saturday was dry but cold and windy, sunday morning was wet.. first two sessions were wet, i was out on wets, but plenty of others in the inters and novice were on road tyres, and then it dried up...
so....dont bother looking at the forcast, just turn up and ride. you'll only go as fast as you turn your right wrist
its bright clear and blue here today :)

rain is only water
wot do lot bath in? fresh air and rays of sun?
sorry but it seems that the few drops of rain some of u think u may melt, jus go and have a good time, riding in the wet round a track might build a bit of confidence for riding in the wet on the road
loads safer on the track, ambulances at every corner and no lorries or c rs comming other way
