Just a quick question to those in the know.....

I've enjoyed (as I always do) watching the TT coverage on the telly.

I understand there are many classes in which riders compete.

What is the difference between the Superbike TT and the Senior TT? Is the Senior TT a Superbike TT Race 2 or is it a different class altogether?

Just curious, thanks in advance :D

superbike is superbike only, senior you can run what you feel best on, and you can tell by the plate background/numberboard colour.

ie some prefer to run the superstock machine as they can go quicker on that, obviously the front runners are on superbikes as a general rule of thumb.

basically if you go back the TT has changed throughout its history - basically to tie in with the machinery available.

but the recent change was in 2005, after consultation in 2003. It was decided to have just the three classes we have today - along with the sidecars making 4 in total.

Superbike, superstock and supersport, in which the machinery matched basically the classes in short circuit racing.

originally that year it was decided to allow 250cc GP bikes in with the 600's but so few entered that year it was decided to scrap it for the following years.

along with fewer enteries in the 125 and 250 class, and with lack of manufacturer support in these and the 400cc class these were scrapped as well

but this year there were lightweight machines racing not the TT course but the Southern 100 course (billown course) as there is still an interest, but not just as much as years ago.

I remember being confused after seeing 600's in the senior, but it's just like gixerjim says.
BTW how successful were the 2 new TT races (non mountain course) races (I left on Fri night, but might stay till Sat next year)?
