yea, with the Martin Finnegan crash and now this unfortunatley I think its going to make the move for spectators to be in specific areas even more of a priority, and for me being so close is what makes road racing so spectacular.........wish him a speedy recovery
Have been talking to my mate over there about it today.... I think it's going to be a terrible knock on road racing which is the last thing he'd want too, real shame

Lord what a year for road racing
Speedy recovery to all
I was there at the corner (dukes bends) that the accident happened...Gary Johnson tipped into the right and lost the front resulting in him and the bike slamming into the grass bank and getting flung threw the air like nothing i have ever seen..It was horrific being there at the time and a memory i am sorry to say will be with me forever..and i also got the first part of the crash on video on my camera without knowing..Gary was lucky to get away with just a broken collarbone and not a broken back or other injuries and Michael Weldon escaped injury as he somehow, god knows how, avoided Gary and bits of his bike but crashed doing so..Gilmore and Dunlop then came through at full chat and missed both guys by inches..Could have been alot more serious for riders concerned...
Thoughts have to go to poor Milton and if it wasn't for some very brave people who dragged him from the fire and the marshalls putting the fire out we could have witnessed some horrific and even more tragic scenes..He is now stable in a burns unit at a Dublin hospital so all i can say is thank god for everything i saw the various people do that day.The bike paramedics who were there inside of 2 mins and the ambulance crews right behind. They are unsung hereos and its hard to imagine what we would do without them..:worship:
It was a sorry end to a brilliant 2 days..Keith Amor and Gary Johnson showed they can learn the roads very quickly and were giving the established guys a good battle..
I really hope this accident and thats what is what and a freaky accident at that, along with the loss of Finnegan and Dunlop this year, does not start to signal an end to this sport or the way its viewed..it is truly an awesome spectacle and something all bike riders should go and see

x2, bloody terrible year for all motorsport in ireland

I've heard pretty much that too, there has already been 1 road race that i know of not allowed to go ahead this year & there will prob be more to come, Tandregee being one sticking out in my mind (Finnegan this year & Donnan last year).
What im afraid of is ending up with only the 2 major races held here, the Ulster GP &
the North West 200 will probably never be cancelled as it brings WAY too much money into the provence to let it go
It's a real shame, it's only really been this last year I have started to half follow it, one of the lads my mate Danny knows does road racing (as does his dad too I think) and so it's started filtering in to my abstract brain, I have a feeling I will have missed some of the real racing by the time I get organised to go watch some of the other ones :(
Sh@ thats terrible! Fingers crossed for a fast recovery!

Honestly speaking i'd get organised to get to see some of them soon or next year (if alot of them havent been 'cut out' by then)
I've posted before if any Junkies want to come see any i've got a couple of spare rooms & a couch
That's a really generous offer Steve
No probs, someday you'll not have any racing to see i'd say.
Ah well, Ireland's short circuit tracke make up for it :sarcasm:

yea, agreed. RR is where you get close to the action, and now we have no-go zones in certain areas of the TT course that only came in last year,
unfortunately I think we may be going to 25ft high fences soon, and I don't think its because cows and sheep are better at jumping than years ago
get to it while you can

If you want to see "real racing" avoid the nw200. Don't get me wrong, it's a good event but it feels to commercial and professional comapred to some of the other circuits which ruins it for me. My personal favourite is the tandragee 100, great track and i met gixer_joe there too, that man's a nutjob :gix:

Some great racing in the south of Ireland.I agree this has been one of the worst if not the worst years for racing. But road racing has never been so heavily marshelled and organised. The T T for one has never been so strong. I am like you steve a fairly new comer to the racing scene but get such a buzz from it now.I have this year met some gladiators of men one of which is now racing the great race in the sky. The rest of the paddock is one of the friendliest places you could find yourself any weekend and have not met a racer or crew that would not have a chat (Farquer is an exception)
There ye have it
Now Walderstown is on Sat and Sunday.
All welcome
Party on for the sat night should be MAD
Steve Nig Kenny get yer asses down to the south if ye can
All others GJ welcome too

No more srad for me joe, i took a deposit on it and decided to take it our for "one last blast" before i picked up my k5 750. The bike's overheating now, suspected head gasket failure. I bought a replacement engine when i was rebuilding my gearbox (worked put cheaper) so i'll just have to put that in next week. Sure it will give me something to do after i get laid off on friday

Are you serious joe? That's brutal. First of all you lost your bag on the way to cookstown now this. You should invest in a big bubble and just roll to the road races, you'll be far safer
I have plenty of help with the engine joe but thanks for the offer, much appreciated. I managed to talk the boss to keep me at work for another fortnight so at least that's one bit of good luck :)
