No ambulances, no major delays - think they will welcome us back with open arms ;)

I was at a td earlier in the year where the air ambulance was called 3 times!!

Would be good to use them again.

Scotty , with all due respect dude , some peeps aint got the budget/spare time to pick and choose when / where they go

I am aware we have already done Cadwell as a Junkies day , but we now have newer members that maybe haven't yet , and on a personal note , Cadders is awesome :D
I couldn't give a rat's ass if there ain't any decent facilities there

Each to their own matey :acute:

There was a time when you just started discovering the buzz of doing a trackday don't forget

No-one said it was gonna be a Junkies do fella

Just informing peeps that may want to have a go at one of the most technical tracks in the country , not tick 'em off their to-do list

Fair enough, but Cadwell's not on your doorstep by any chance is it!!!!!!!!!

I was going to put a poll up to find out who wanted to go where but I'll not waste my time and I'll step back and keep my gob shut and good luck to who ever wants to sort the next junkies track day!

I fancy a trip to Oulton Park or Angelsea but tbh I dont mind where we go as I wont be going on the track this year. ;)

We cant make August or early Sept so late Sept or Oct would do us (I may not be able to make it whatever as work is looking horrendous from mid Sept to Feb :(

Were going to the evening at Cadders & I know a few junkies are going & it will be Leon's first time on track there - for £39 it would be silly for us not to go ;)

gonna struggle to get anything this year as they will all be booked solid,
But I recon we'll get pick of the crop for next year if we start proccedings now (and prolly avoid any price hikes)
one of the problems you will come across is the great north/south divide and peoples lack of willingness to travel.
also it really needs to be on a friday/saturday as a lot of peeps (me included) can't get weekdays off work, AND all the hassle of getting all your sh1t together and sorting yourself out for work the next day

Think that the chances of another GJ trackday this year all to ourselves is pretty much slim to zero due to track availability

best thing is to see what TD's are pretty empty with NL then just block book it and try n take over

Myself and Leon were talking to Mark on Monday about doing 3 days next year

possibly April late June early July and then Sept Mark starts talkin to tracks from October onwards he would also be prepared to take deposits with balance due in full a month before the event

Silverstone is silly money and 70 per group and Donington is getting pretty silly on prices too

Mark suggested Rockingham, Mallory, Cadwell, Oulton and Anglesey which he can a real good deal on if we have a Friday or Monday

I love Cadwell never done Mallory but the only downside to those places are the fact that if the weather is crap there are no garage facilities and Cadwell doesnt have power supply for tyre warmers etc

I have hit 102dB once, otherwise it is usually 103dB+ so a true 'quiet day' - 98dB would be a no for me sorry. No point in putting a baffle or road can on because of the way my bike is set up to fuel :(

Do thruxton do motorcycle track days?
Not so, judging by their website.
I tried calling them but office was closed about the option of hiring the track for a day. Would many people be up for it if it could be arranged?

About time we had a day that's close for us Southerners ;)

AFAIK Thruxton get hit badly with noise restrictions, to such an extent that they are limited on the quiet days they can run.................. also heard a rumour (could well be bullshit) that the circuit owner wasn't a great fan of bikes

Not a fan of open pit lane. You shove a group of riders of varying ability together on track and someone's ego is going to get in the way. Couple that with having to wait in pit lane until there's a space for you and I'll go with groups anytime.

Sorry to hear about your Open Pit experience; it's a shame but it sounds like it was with one of those organisers who just pack 'em on regardless :acute:
Racedays run limited numbers and with Jerez being big and wide it's not a problem. I have to say, I've never waited for space.
There's a few of us going from here again this year and I've done a few events with them in the past. They do make it clear it's not for novices so I guess there is a bit more parity in terms of riding ability, although Haslam, McWilliams and Neevesy were smoking us all last year (no shit:notsure: )
Most of the Spanish TD's I do are with Spanish TD companies and most run open pit but once again, numbers are limited so it's rarely an issue.
Hope you have better luck if you are ever tempted by Open Pit again.

Philthy
21-07-2008, 22:22
Know that feeling. I was on track with half the BSB, R1 cup and KTM Superduke racers earlier this year. I can normally run front half of the fast group but they were in a different league altogether.

I'm led to believe open pit lane on the continent is run better than here so may give it a try.

trackadick
21-07-2008, 22:25
Open pit lane, dont think it would be workable for a GJ track day,to much variation,Have done one(not many turned up)so made it open, also whats the most you could have?60 at a guess,so :ot:

Rockingham Intl Sat 13 Sep 08 - £145.00

All No Limits less 10% GJ's discount

Alternatively what about Donington again?

If there was a lot of interest Id do that one, weekend to....Id like to have a go at cadwell and that gives one day to get used to it then one day to get a shifty on. (Or I guess 2 days to stand around in the rain drinking tea, cursing the weather and not riding my bike.)

(I cant do any more from here on in till 19th september onwards.)

I really like the sound of it as (presuming we get some ok weather) it would sort of be a nice end to summers riding and its far enough ahead that it gives something bike related to look forward to. Definately need a poll with all the options in the main Trackday forum to guage full interest

oh and dont be a big girls blouse....you can dial yourself in and still do advanced both days - you dont need to drop a group to get used to it, Never been there or looked at any footage of it but Im gonna use my powers of intuition to guess that its going to be a load of corners linked by straight bits.:homer:
