IF there is anyone that is in ANY DOUBT as to the quality of this track, take it from me, its worth the trip.

Gobert lives there... LITERALLY, its a 2.5 hr drive for me, but its worth every minute of the travel time. its the closest you will get to ride a track like philip island, without traveliing round the other side of the world, (and i've done a TD at Pi). anglesey is up there as one of my favourite UK tracks, very grippy wet and dry, easy to learn, so great for everyone

I second that. It comes VERY close to topping Oulton as the best circuit in the country.

Put me down for Fast please Tink.

It's pretty easy to learn. If you're Inters elsewhere, go for the same at Anglesey (or go for the FAST group, for an accelerated learning curve...).

I did the GJ day 28th March. Can remember being awake half the night in the back of mate's van as it was proper chucking it down outside of the pit garage we'd parked it. Frikin freezin it was at 5.30 am or whenever it was we eventually gave up on sleep. Good day granted. Bit arse clenching bouncing off the red line gaving it a bit of gas on the start/finish straight when the back was breaking loose.

I would love a go at this circuit!! Have any of you guys had a go there already?? Is it as good a giggle as it looks??

Gobert
30-12-2008, 11:48
I've done about 25 days on the new layout - the circuit is very grippy - even in the wet - wide and more importantly, it's fun.

With it being a shortish lap - the Coastal layout is just over 1 1/2 miles long - it's quite easy to get to know the lap but it remains challenging however many times you go there.

Very few people that I've spoken to have come away disappointed.

No garages to speak of and you need a long extension lead for power unless you get there early or have a genny.

Can we use petrol powered bikes so we don't need a long extension lead?:gix:

It's superb, I've done it 3 times now, once on the national and twice on the coastal. All pretty much dry too. Superb back drop as well and great beer and grub at the circuit cafe.

Well worth the 6 hour drive IMHO.:dance3:

Hi Tink, Phil 24_7 and I have booked 2 places for the novice group and paid in full today. Our first trackday so looking forward to it. We're travelling from plymouth in a van which will bring the bikes so if anyone has any other bits and pieces from my neck of the woods your more than welcome to send me a PM and see if I can fit it in. Travelling night before so will be looking for cheap digs. Can anyone recommend a place local to the track??

I see the track has a 105db level, Does anyone know if a full akrapovic evo race system (K5 600) meets this requirement???

Many thanks

Never seen - or heard / read - of noise testing at Anglesey track days..........and I go there a lot............

littleblue
07-01-2009, 09:49
there is a noise meter out the back, near the buildings on the back straight, but its there more to meet regulations to say they have a noise tester... rather than to actually do anything about noisy bikes

so you will be fine with your akro system.

I posted in the general thread a week ago, but nothing heard yet.

I wanna, I wanna.

But I don't think I can face the ride from London in the rain (ahem) I don't want to waste my track tyres on a long ride to Wales, and obviously I can't make it all the way on wets. Yeah, that's it. The tyres. Right.

Anyone going from the Southeast with room in a van? Obviously, I'll chip in for diesel/petrol, beer/scotch, fags and gent's reading materials.

Please? Anyone?

theres plenty of guys in the fast group in the 1.20 to 1.25 ish bracket, so dont let that put you off.

remember, theres always someone faster...... despite how fast you are, someone will be faster on the day. i had a mate step up to the fast group last saturday at cadwell, he is a pretty good inters rider, never done the fast group, and he was probably one of the slower guys out there, but he said all the passes were clean, no-one got in his way as they overtook and buggered off. he learnt alot following lines and worked on the fact that if they could do it, so could he.

so dont let the prospect of being in the fast group put you off. i'm expecting it to be a very friendly day... what with so many GJ's in attendance, i dont think it will be a mega fast day like it can be just before a race meeting there

I know mate, only reason for doing the inters would be because its first time at the track. Mind you doing the fast may be a better idea as the lines taken SHOULD BE better by the fast guys

I need to change my chain and sprockets, currently running 14 f and 47 rear, how would this fare at Angelsey?

booked up in inters as I have never been there before, but it was on the 'to do list' this year anyway. - might as well make it the junkies day!

will have to follow someone round for the first session!

i'd say you will be fine in the fast group on this day. its the best way to learn a new track and the lines, out with the fast group, then you get thr ight lines straight away.

i'd say 14/47 is too low. i was running 15/45 on my 750, sometimes 15/46 if it was into the wind on the back straight and that was about right with the gearing.... 14/47 will have you on the limiter along the back straight

I wouldnt worry about that - other than looking at a few ariel pictures of the place and its location and thinking how much Id like to have a go at it, I dont know much about the place....

if you ride in the fast group normally you might as well learn it in that group to.

Must admit...i've booked in the inters this time, for the first time in years.

Mainly coz I'm out on my new Striple, have no idea how it will handle on track, how quick it will be, or where I'm going!

Fast group is usually the safest though as most of the guys know where they're going and what they're doing!

Well due to a biking incident my +1 feels he will be unable to attend as bike may not be repaired/replaced by then and he's not sure if his ribs will be mended either so I have a slot in Inters currently paid for and I would like to recoup some money for him if possible. Anyone fancy the space then send me reasonable offers via pm.

was a bit too much traffic in the fast group to get any really decent times, but i managed a few laps in the 1.13's.... which i was very pleased about. the track is a bit bumpier than last year, especially at church and along the back straight. they have put more run off at the top of rocket which is a good thing. and my new thou is just ballistic along the back straight..... its like engaging warp drive.

If its wet I will leave the bike on the back of the truck and be watching, the slightest spot of rain and I won't be circulating, dont have the experience of wet track riding, nor the tyres for the job and wouldnt have the confidence especially considering I absolutely can not afford to take a fall with an important (to me) running race on the sunday

would like to try running on a set of wets in pouring rain at some point out of curiosity....but definately not this time!

I'm on it too. I'm peo122's +1. Just thought I'd come here and say Hi.

As it's a special GJ day (never done one before) is it run like a normal TD? Have been there once before on my old Hornet Race bike. Can;t wait.

Top tip for the campers tho. Last time I was there (may 08) i slept in my campervan. i was fully clothed, inside two sleeping bags with another on top of me and wearing a beanie and I was still frickin freezing. TAKE ALL THE CLOTHES YOU OWN IF YOU'RE GOING TO CAMP!!!.

I learned from the last time and will be doing the B&B with central heating, hot showers and tea on tap.

TD minus 7 days and counting. Can;t wait. see you there.

PS I'm embarassed to say I have to hire a bike and won;t be on a gixer. will be a Crapasaki. hmmmmmmmmm.

Not long now folks... As my +1 and mate will not be there please feel free to come say hello to the guy in the white pikey transit easily identified by the gaffa tape on the front arches .:lmao:
I'll be on my blue Kwacker 636R and in blue/white leathers.
Looking forward to meeting some new peeps (did I mention that I can make a mean brew ??)
