Dunno if I'm being a pessimist, but I've never seen the need for tyre warmers on TD's.

By the time you've sat in the holding area for 5 or 10 mins your tyres are back to cold again :dunno:

You'd be welcome to borrow mine, except I'm in the same group. If I decide to step up to fast finally, then you can...

*EDIT* Actually. I think my mate Graeme (Raindog) has got a pair of diamonds, so I can ask if you can borrow them for the day. I can bring them up for you.

Top man.

I do intend to buy some - but won't be till later in the year.

Paul - I think £27.50 is a bit of a rip off to be honest ;)

once you've got the heat into the carcas, it wil take a lot more than 10mins for it to cool down.

the less heat cycles your tyres go thrugh the better, hence warmers are a jolly good idea

Most people seem to use diamond, they seem very good. My Holroyds were around half the price of the diamonds, and work fine

yep, they're the ones.

They have elasticated draw cords, which I found to be a real pain, I just couldn't get them to pull tight enough, and they wouldnt stay as tight as I wanted them on the tyres.

After the first time I used them, I bought some cheap long laces, and replaced the cords. Pain in the arse job as well, as the elastic is stitched in the middle, so doesn't come out easily.
Once that was done, they've been fine, and it was worth the £70 odd quid saving in my opinion over the Diamonds

littleblue

actually, theres lots of blue plug spaces... at a rough guess, about 32 +. and they get shared out

Blue 3-pin camping type plug, same as used at a lot of tracks ;)

so you need an adaptor to hook a standard plug from a set of warmers up to them....sorry for the probably dumb question!

littleblue
25-03-2009, 17:59
yes, or do what alot do, get a single socket that will accept a 3 pin plug at one end of a 240v 3 core cable, and fit a blue 3 pin plug to the other....

then, when you need to plug a standard house plug into a blue socket, you have a ready made conversion lead......

blue male socket was about £3 in my local camping shop when i looked the other day

you need a blue plug like this;

I've just been told to bring a Generator, no garages & no power (or very very little). Was gonna try to not have to load a Genny for the journey!!

littleblue
25-03-2009, 18:37
you dont need a genny, just a blue plug connector. normally plenty of blue plugs available to plug into.

there is a big of a garage, more like a lean too... called the cow shed. that has normal 3 plug power, but trips out if too many people use it

I do indeed have a pair of Diamonds - but the rear is a bit flaky and hasn't worked the last few times I've tried them - need to get them back to diamond for repair. you can rent the front one for £13.75 though :D

My m8 is selling his Diamond warmers; bit tatty but work fine. Think he wants 50 notes for them.
