View Full Version : a couple fast group vids
so there I am first session in the afternoon bimbling around waiting for my sandwiches to go down when this guy on a kawaski (?) blows past me closely followed by littleblue...I am then getting a tow off littleblue just keeping him in shot - mainly so I could see him doing the fast back section as I could not for the life of me decide what gear do do it in and how far into it you could actually (safely) keep it pinned to the stops......I was rubbish at it in the morning but got slowly quicker in the afternoon sessions. Someone on a white bike then gets in between us and it takes me a few laps to get back past him.
turn the volume down as the wind noise is horrendous!

great vid jason
that was the first session after lunch, and i was taking it steady for a few laps, having just fitted new (to me) 16.5 dymags and new mich slicks and new discs with pads, so had to bed them all in for a few laps before winding it on a bit more, so i think most of the laps were in the 17's and 18's until the end of the session when we got a few 15's and once i got to grips with the turn in on the slicks, i got a few 13's in the last session of the day, the fastest i've been round there
the guy on the white bike is ashspider, one of the GJ's on here, riding his k6 thou, but not moving his arse off the seat
and you can nail it fully to the stop along the back straight, i was topping out in 5th on my thou, running quite high gearing.
Good stuff mate, nice to see you got me on that vid too;)
Even if it was just in the paddocks getting ready to go out:lol:
Nice vid there Jason, I hate watching you lot on track though... Makes me so jealous :(

I changed my mind on it all day started it riding to the limiter in third....then tried 4th then shortshifting to 5th briefly - ended the day settling with 4th on it but not topping out (although thats stock road bike gearing) its surprising how late you can keep it pinned. (I realised that following you - I was backing off much earlier in the morning)
the guy who fell on the first sighting lap on the first session of the day....was that one of us? I can never get my head around why people fall on sighting laps
Good vid jason :nice:, but a schoolboy error
Anyone else noticed ?

The fact that it was titled in the future? ;)

i think i'm running 16 43 gearing on my thou (iknow its a 43 on the back), hence topping out in 5th on the back straight, but it meant i could carry 2nd from the top of rocket (the left at the top of the hill) all through to peel and down the corkscrew and then back onto the start finish, when it was back to 3rd.... on the 750 when i was running 15 45, i could top out in 6th, but had to change to 3rd before peel to get the drive out, then back to second down the corkscrew.
first part of the last session before lunch....quite a few people on this session so I will put the whole thing up (in two parts) (annoyingly the cam was a bit close to the fairing but its okish once you get used to it)
Part 1:

didnt bother with the whole thing in the first vid in the thread as I went out late missed the first couple laps and was just circulating an clear track until the point you see it. I also recorded the 2nd session of the afternoon but knocked the bloody cam out of position with my Knee so its just a whole lot of sky!
and finally part 2...

sorry about the fairing obscuring the view!

some more good footage there jase.
i make a brief appearance about 6 minutes into the part 2 vid, when i do my usual overtaking move up the inside at the up hill rocket coner  as most people back off too early for the corner, forgetting how late you can brake with it being so much uphill

yeh its another bit that takes a while to get to grips with - the uphill there is also difficult to gauge becuase you come into it fast and its a blind brow, the urge to break early is high! I thought I had that bit fairly sussed by the last session of the day....getting overtaken always helps because It makes you recalibrate....thats a great spot for taking people.
I cant be the only person in our group who took footage? anybody else got some?

I haven't any yet, but I happened to follow a white CBR600RR for all of the 2nd session after lunch. He had a rear facing camera and said he would send me the footage. I'll post it on youtube when I get it. I remember littleblue came past us (again!) in that session.
Did any one else (Littleblue excepted) get times in the speedy group? I got a few decent laps in in the inters & wouldn't mind to hear what the fast group was doing

Tip for the wind noise, burrow the mic into a sponge and you get crisp sound without the wind noise.

The best I did was 1m 19s - loads in the 1m 20s > 1m 22s which usually puts me towards the back of the fast group at Anglesey.
Cool, my best was a 1.17 & a few 1.18's but alot were higher encountering traffic etc. I was quite pleased at that with it being my 1st time there

Thats good mate, I think Mrs Littleblue was 1.16 ish
You would easily run towards the middle of most fast groups at Anglesey with those times.

and mrs littleblue was into the 1.16's for the first time ever..

I knew he was going quick
I should have bought the RS 50 that has a laptimer :)
I'm sure I heard somewhere that lap timers aren't allowed at track days?
Maybe i'll try my luck with the fast lads next time at it then (& it'll prob put some manners in me!).
I really enjoyed that track & it was good to meet alot of the friendly bunch like Rick, Blue, Leon & Smiler, i wish i could remember the others names but im kinda crap at that.............maybe next time & apologies to anyone i havent mentioned. Good to see the faces behind the names though
