A great days racing even when they stopped the last two races ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA4SaIlWV0w
Pile of shite this year if you ask me!! Especially cos a couple of people/teams cried like babies due to the bit of water that was on track, there wasn't enough water for full wets in any race FFS, including the last SB race they cancelled due to water. If people don't want to race in the wet cos they don't feel comfortable etc then fair enough, get off the grid & quit yapping!

have to agree with Steve I'm afraid. haven't posted on here about it, but other forums more into the road racing scene tend to be of the same opinion.
In know Steve will be bias to Ryan (not intended to be a dig Steve, just that as a mate you will be in his corner) but as a fan I saw Ryan carry on going at full pelt when the 'rain' started and other back off.
not denying anyone the win but a large part of the 'wet lap' was completed and Ryan was ****ing miles in front.
I think Steve Parish went faster on his lap than the TAS Suzuks in the wet, and as a fan it was disappointing.
I was gutted I couldn't manage to get over there to watch it. I have to miss the TT this yr with the credit crunch and the work situation, but if I had gone over I would have been pissed off.
I was pissed off watching it here, Guinness in hand.
last yr was superb, and with the events of the week the 250 was the best most emotional race I have ever seen. Mervyn Whyte has his cock on the block, I know that, but he is to put on racing, not a grid full of bikes for the BBC to film on paddock stands.
lastly my condolences to Mark Young and his family

one very well put view I feel from another forum - title who runs the NW200
Is it the Coleraine Club or HM Plant and TAS Suzuki?
Why were these team managers taken out for laps pf the course with Mervyn White?
Why did Mervyn try to remove young Dunlop from the grid for changing a tyre yet not take any action against the entire TAS team?
Why was John McGuinness allowed to refuel his 250 on the grid? Anyone else (apart from a TAS rider) would have been disqualified.
Two sets of rules apply in this event and money certainly talks.

Totally right Jim, i am very biased cos he's shit hot in the wet, im pretty certain some of the bigger teams & riders would have gotten embarassed by a superstock bike passing some top machinery, he was hoping for rain to 'even things up a bit'. I'm pretty certain who cried off but id rather not say names
However, im more thinking of the spectator side of things, alot of people came a long way to see the racing & it was a disappointment to end it that way, to do so on safety grounds was pure poo after the day that they already had, it was hardly incident free & all races were dry, we ran a wet front & inter rear waiting for the last SB race
That ZX10R of Farquars was fast, i heard one of the TAS riders bigging up the superstock k9 but the kwak was a bloody missile !
Badly interrupted race schedule, bad weather, bad injuries, badly attended, bad (but honestly taken) decisions by Mervyn Whyte, lack of committment by top riders, bad commentry (why can't the transponders update the track positions to the race commentators) bad on the grid interviews to fill in time, still better to be there and have a few beers and support real road racing while it still exists. I've seen so many good NW200's that one year's washout won't stop me going back.

I enjoyed the day and as my comment said, even! when they stopped the last two races, i saw the commitment from the (real road racers) not the multi corporate backed racers, Flying Ryan was robbed but the only consolation was he was a local (A S) who came back from a big off (earlier) 2 win !! as DEL BOY says better 2b there have a beer an support real road racing, not like the armchair critic's watchin youtube an bbc highlights http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1IQEU6Kx10: sh::sh::sh::sh:

I made the journey over from Brum on my K6. Got soaked on the coast ride.
Went to the nearest pub and watched last years racing instead on the big screen. It seems we made the right decision not to bother...

I was all up for going since it was my first NW200 but the group I was with (who have been numerous times before) said it wasn't gonna be a good 'un and get abandoned. :rain:
Still would have liked to have been roadside with comfy armchair having gone all that way!
wasnt it LAST yrs superstock?
It is, there is virtually no difference between that bike & his 'superbike', only a quickshifter & brembo master cylinder
Hats off to Ryan for being fooking quick
Like to add I thoroughly enjoyed the racing
Last years racing was amazing and the atmosphere was great!! The sun was out and the thrill of the racers actually crossing the line was great!!
This year wasn't so go no hype or good atmosphere neither the race wins of victory! But hey...I suppose its all down to the weather, next year might be different, Its worth the gamble to go and see! Great event
Hoping to bring bike next year :b3:

Real road racing is always at risk due to the weather, it is the same at the IOM, (although they have longer to reschedule).
From a spectators point of view this year was not good, the red flag restarts took too long, there is a lack of big screens around the circuit, and it seems that every man or dog that owns a field is charging for access.
However, if you go to enjoy the roads, the good natured hospitality with the NW200 races as the backdrop to share a racing experience with a whole bunch of other like minded bikers, then go and enjoy.
This year was plagued with dosgy weather, but the rideouts were good as always, even when wet and this year I even got to meet some new friends ........ and I don't have many !!
:)
Next year will be a European trip for me though, as I only attend the NW200 every other year.
Do not be put off by one year of bad weather ..... wait until you have had two!! :)
Hoping to bring bike next year :b3:
Oh I thought you'd be flying again M! Living it up with the Race teams going to hospitality in your finery! So...............u missed your bike this year then? :)
Give you three guesses

Thats exactly why i've said for a long time that some of the smaller road races are as good if not better, Tandragee, Kells etc

Not to forget that they moved the ropes back further again this year and they fenced off both sides of the lanes down into the carparks on the coast road even though the actual carpark was still open. I have never seen so much ridgefence and rope in my life :sorry:

Just got back to Cornwall this afternoon. Rode back from Ballintoy (East of Portrush, where we were staying) to Bristol to some mates, then to home today.
It was my first NW - there were 5 of us on bikes, and 2 in the car. I have to say it was a brilliant week. The biggest suprise was the incredible hospitality of the locals (4am lock-ins, and we weren't the last to leave, and the pub cooking us some food at 2am!! - where would you get that in England??), the amazing scenery and roads, the Guiness (had far too many!)...
We went to practice on Thursday - got a few beers in the coolbox and got a nice spot opposite the grid, then moved down to York corner. Race day was a bit of a disappointment - as others have said, the interruptions to racing followed by the long re-starts, the weather, the crap commentry, the lack of big screens, and most wierd thing, the lack of cheering from the crowd.
Having said that, we are already making plans for a return trip next year. Even my missus enjoyed it - and shes not fussed about bikes.
All in all, a top week.
I'm in the process of getting my pics on a web album wotsit - I've got about 550 photos to look at first, but I'll put a linky on later.
