View Full Version : If it R**ns?
Don't even want to say the 'R' work and jinx things, but who is giving it a miss if it chucks it down?
I thought I'll do it whatever the weather, but as its getting closer, the fact that I have to ride up with no van/spares etc, poss do a wet trackday and probs drop it etc etc
Not filling me with inspiration at the mo so I honestly reckon i'll have to write off £120 if its gonna be r**ning.
I wouldnt be a pussy like this if I had a track bike etc, but just cant afford to ride up and do something silly and not be able to ride home.
:(
Fingers crossed this f*cking shite weather sorts itself out the further on the week goes.

Every trackday I've done it's rained at least half the day and I've still had a blast. Having said that I'm holding off tracking my new bike at the moment. If the worst did happen I'm sure GJ's will get you home.
I'll be going whatever. Might have to buy some new wets though :(
The metcheck forcast is saying dry now anyway.

Know the feeling, I had 2 weeks in France last month where it was 46 in the shade, got back to Britains 'heatwave' and damn near froze me tits off
The other good thing about the rain, is the majority fook off leaving a nice empty track to play on ;)

Go anyway Mart on thoff chance of a dry spell, you never know, I'm going just to spectate, have a natter to folk and rattle the collection box in folks faces, its still a day out regardless of the weather.
im doing it whatever the weather but i have wets....whoooo!........ i went to donny last year and sat out all day due to the crap weather and only haveing my road bike.still had a great day meeting junkies and watching squadron leader slide around the track.rocky is wide enough to take it easy in the wet anyway.

Watchout for the "Shaun Syndrome" Mart.... dont look out the window, see rain and dismiss it as a write off.. you might get there and it be dry all day with plenty of track time :) If you get there and it rains all day, you can then decide if you wanna stay in the pit, drink tea and socialise rather than risk your P&J
Still go Mart, and you can pick and choose your sessions, I did at Donny!
I'm taking both bikes - Just in case!!!!
Sold my WoW's for the older bike and have not got a set of the new bike, but do have a spare set of rain tyres so will chuck them in the back of the car and will have them fitted at the circuit in needs be.
At least then I don't have to fanny about getting tyres changed over every 20 mins if the weather is changeable....

Rain, shine, fog or snow (alright, not snow) I'll be there on my road bike, with road tyres.
The power of positive thinking can't stop the wet stuff falling from the skies, but it will stop it spoiling your day! Some of the best sessions I've had have been in the rain...

My second track bike is not worth much more than a set of WoW's for the K6!
If the forecast stays this grim, I may swap over the tyres on the second bike and take it on wets....
Rain on trackdays is great. You get loads of space to go playing as all the gp wannabes with their slicks and tyre warmers skulk off home :tg:
Watch Rockingham in the wet, especially if the cars have been out lately, it gets very slippery.
I binned it first session back in April when it was wet. Only just had the thing repainted. It still shows it's scars and I'll be going out whatever the weather.

i like your style mate
I've been offered a set of soft wets. Only thing is it has to be practically under water or they will fall apart on a slightly damp track so I hope it either chucks it down or stays dry and none of that can't make up its mind fanny around drizzle one minute dry the next.
Could also do with a set of tyre warmers if anyone has some spare:friends:

Cant bring myself to look at the forecast, cause if i do it once i will get obsessed
Not that it matters to much as i got slicks on the bike ,wow's and a new set of wets i'm taking in case it does dry a little and i knacker the older ones.
I'm doing Saturday and Sunday and the only thing that concerns me is wet leathers the next day ,yuck ,though hopefully the top half will be ok under me Johny jacket
Bring it on r... or shine and lets all have a good day out

More slippy than Donny in the rain?
Well to be safe, I am just fitting full rains to one bike and sticking with SC Pro's on the other. All bases are covered that way.....
Have ridden Rocky in the wet on SC Pro's, wasn't too bad but had trouble controlling the old rusty sheriffs badge at times......
its not going to rain....im there and the sunshine always follows me
I will be there and spectate if its wet but I definately wont circulate in it as I dont have suitable tires,
(that said at the moment I dont have suitable tyres for the dry either...mine are shot to hell and Im struggling to get a clear response from the track tyre guy to get a set fitted on the day....)
there is a motto in this about not leaving things until the last minute....

A word of warning if it does r**n (and it won't).
BEWARE THE GARAGE FLOORS...!!!
They are very smooth concrete and slippery as hell with wet tyres/boots. When we were there in April, some lad on a newish Mille had an off at 5mph inside the garage itself...

No not that slippery!!

minor emergency sorted - fresh tires now waiting for me at track....phew
so the motto remains...why do today what you can put off until tommorrow

Ask him to put them in warmers before he fits them, and you can leave it pretty much until your first session is called...
Or I could track your bike, leaving you free and you'll not have to lift a finger? ;) :D
