Even though he only entered one GP in 2006, can you believe that Troy Bayliss actually lead more laps in 2006 than World Champion Nicky Hayden?!

Unbeleivable! Hayden's hardly a legend of the sport is he, he'll be forgotten once he loses the championship.

True He won but I think that it was a numbers game well done to him for that
But he'll never really go down as one of the greats !

He bought a damn lucky lottery ticket and the yappy spam won the jackpot. Luckiest guy in motorsport but he won't have it gifted to him next season.

ur all just p***ed off coz rossi didnt win give hayden a chance to shine next year, the pressures off him now hes won one now so he can relax slightly more. and if hes gotta chace it he might be better. and if hayden does not win then im sure pedrosa will beat rossi

Yeh i'm sure he will. Once or twice. but he still falls off too often. Rossi did win, 5 times but when he didn't win he had bad luck, ie engine failures, tyre failures and getting knocked off. Hayden had none of the above and won his championship on fortune. Fact.

Its not a case of leading laps that makes a world champion, its consistently racking up the points, Hayden is a worthy champion, he overcame the hurdles consistently finished, and when it came to the end of the season, he won! Fair and square. And he will be back next year to defend, never underestimate Honda and their influence, they pressed for the new 800cc rule, do you really think they are going to let someone else take their title?

So this is the Dawn of Haydens reign is it. He's gonna finish 3rd every race and keep winning championships is he? Yeh right. never underestimate Hondas infuence, spoken like HRC themselves where they feel its machine over racer which Rossi proved otherwise in 2004. No i don't think they're gonna let someone else take their title and give Hayden and Pedrobot bicycles to race on but there are better riders than them out there and next seasons championship won't be quite a picnic for Hayden.

Moto gp is unpredictable whats to say rossi wont have the same problems next year. im a hayden fan like most of u are rossi fans and though he is not exciting to watch this year he hasnt needed to be rossi handed him the championship on a plate this year so hayden didnt need to go stupid because if he did he wouldnt even score a point he would be in a gravel trap likee rossi was on sunday

Thats it, it is unpredictable and its his moment in the spotlight of glory, this season hasn't seen as exciting 1st place battles as last season and and been the most unpredictable i can remember. Hopefully next season we'll see some real battles for first instead of winning through other peoples misfortune. I just think it'd of been a lot easier to swallow if Hayden would've actually consistently battle for the wins instead of taking the easy option.

You make it sound like he rode just to make the numbers up, didn't you ver watch him in the U'S superbikes when he won the title, the guy is talented, and he has a personality unlike pedrosa, he has had to devlop the Honda as well as race it and overcome tyre problem like Rossi, clutch problems as well were a major headache for the team this year. Give the guy credit, he won!! get over it!

Us superbikes where they don't even race in the wet, what an incredible series that is. He won the title no disputing that, he was there to take the spoils, but he won't have it s easy next season.

Dont forget Hayden had a bit of bad luck too !!! various clutch problems !! taken out by his team mate !! allegedly having a worse spec machine than Pedrosa (or development bike, testing various parts for next years bike, whichever way u wanna look at it !! )

Im a big Rossi fan and was gutted when he slid off on Sunday but, breakdowns, engine problems, offs its all part of racing. Whatever u say Hayden is a great rider else he wouldnt be in Moto GP , at the end of the Season its points on the board that matter as Leon Haslam also found out !!!

That was how Toseland got his title in 2004, rack up the points, consistently over the whole of the season, and it was a great season, more people won GP's than the year before, it was closer racing, and as I have said before the best man won! (although i am a Rossi fan too!)
