2007 might well be a decisive season in the career of Michel Fabrizio. His performance last year was satisfactory but far from impressive, and the end of the season in particular was tinged with bitterness after bad luck at Imola and Magny Cours. Nevertheless 2006 also saw Fabrizio doing brilliantly at Brno and performing a double-overtake of two true ‘greats’ in the persons of Haga and Corser, one of the most spectacular manoeuvres of the entire championship!

This time around Michel Fabrizio knows exactly what he has to do. He needs to go faster in the early stages while his tyres are still fresh, and improve on his starts, which gave him trouble in 2006 largely as a result of continuous clutch problems. Last but not least he needs to ride more agressively in the Superpole to improve his chances in the race itself. These must be Fabrizio’s new year’s resolutions if he wants to achieve more in 2007. He can certainly rely on the precious aid of a new manager, the ever great Pierfrancesco Chili, and a team mate of the calibre of Steve Martin, who could well prove to be a valuable ally as soon as he finds a feel for the new Honda.

Now Fabrizio has another stimulus in the arrival of fellow Roman Max Biaggi too. The pair are bound to be thinking ahead to their meeting at the Vallelunga circuit just outside Rome. We can all expect an exciting ‘derby’
