Supersport World Championship competitors Team Honda Megabike have finally completed their line-up for next season. Lorenzo Alfonsi has just been engaged to ride alongside the already confirmed Katsuaki Fujiwara.
The 26 year old Italian from Sesto Fiorentino won the SST 1000 title in 2004 (winning four of the season’s races). The following year he moved up to SBK but failed to perform as hoped. Alfonsi only competed in two Supersport races last season, but is nevertheless considered one of the speciality’s fastest and most talented riders.
Team Honda Megabike’s manager Salvatore Giorlandino was therefore eager to complete the signing. The team’s first test is scheduled for the 19th, 20th and 21st December at the Cartagena circuit in Spain.
