PSG-1 Kawasaki has called on the services of experienced Italian Mauro Sanchini to ride for its newly formed test team, which has been set-up to develop the ZX-10R during the 2007 World Superbike season.
Fonsi Nieto and Regis Laconi will race for PSG-1 next year, with the new test team operating independently of the racing operation and having its own mechanics and rider.
36-year-old Sanchini is a veteran of 136 SBK races, with experience of Kawasaki machinery from 2002-2005. He will start his new role early in 2007 and may also get the chance to ride as a wild-card during the racing season.
Chris Walker gave PSG-1 a race win during the 2006 season, but was dropped in favour of Nieto and Laconi as Kawasaki's top team downsized from three to two riders.
